Branding for Nashville's first music-based yoga studio

When owners Emmy and Lee Singer decided to open Inner Light Yoga in March of 2017, they were the first yoga studio in Nashville to be exclusively music-based. With such an original concept and an idea that set them apart from other yoga studios in the city -- and even in their neighborhood -- they wanted a brand identity that reflected their originality. Seeking something as bold and unique as they are, ILY sought out Smudgepot to come up with a cool and original brand.
The Singers explicitly told us that they weren't interested in the typical yoga studio imagery. That meant no lotus flowers, no om symbols, and no human figures holding a yoga pose. Inner Light wanted something that felt as bold, loud, and fun as the music they would be cranking through their speakers every single day. The brand we designed felt hip-hop and cool yet still approachable; bold and simple identity that helped ILY further stand out from the rest.
